gravity die casting
Gravity Die Casting is called permanent mold casting or chill casting. Chill cast or gravity casting is called in Europe,Permanent mold casting is named in America, . The procedure is acceptable for a smaller amount and high quality aluminium castings, the surface of castings is better than sand casting. The material of permanent mould is steel, the aluminum alloy is poured into the cavity when the mould is heated up to 200 oC. With gravity die casting, the most usually used die-making materials are steel, heat resisting alloys of iron, cast iron. For several specific requirements other materials are used to make the dies, for exemple, copper, aluminum or graphite. A steel die can produce the very high dimensional accuracy . These castings need onle some or no final finishing treatment. The metal dies can use many times, and this depends on several factors like the thermal metal shock resistance of the die material, the casting material, the poured temperature. Gravity die casting process is one kind of permanent mould casting process, the mold is made from steel or cast iron. It uses the gravity, replace the high pressure to fill a permanent mould or die with molten material. The mold cost is inexpensive than high pressure die casting process, the surface of castings is better than sand casting process. So it's great choice. There are several types gravity die casting process. As commonly, If the structure of casting is much more complex, or the weight is heavy, the process is use machine. The mold will be separated three or more parts:left, right, top, bottom or more. if the casting parts weight is less 1.5kg and not complex, The process of gravity die casting is by hand, the mold is separated only two parts "left and right" half. Today, the aluminum gravity die casting is a very mature Technology in China. ![]() gravity casting![]() Gravity casting machine![]() Gravity casting machine![]() Gravity casting![]() Gravity casting![]() gravity casting with secondary machining |
