Innovaw Casting use the investment casting process to profit our customers. The investment casting process provides amazing design freedom, a lot of material choices, and high quality. Also, investment casting is usually more economical than old classic casting methods.
Investment casting is an extremely cost effective and highly accurate process. Also, many high strength and corrosion resistant materials should be used in investment casting, including:
- Nickel base alloys
- Cobalt base alloys
- Aluminum alloys
- Brass alloys
- Low to high carbon alloy steel
- Tool steel
- Stainless steel
Step 1
The 1st stage of the investment casting process is to produce an exact copy of the required casting. It is created by injecting wax from die.
Aluminium dies can be used, that are cost effective to produce and simply modified if design changes are needed. Loose pieces could be used to form any undercuts and inside detail.
Step 2
The wax copy is assembled into a wax feeder system. Each assembly or "tree" often have just only large copy or many small copy.
Step 3
The wax system is dipped into high-grade ceramic slurry with a large robot.
Here is the very most important coating as the metal will lie next step to it when poured next mould.
Step 4
Though the thin coating still is wet, larger particles of ceramic are fallen into the wet surface, to produce a heavier coat. After drying, this investment process is repeated a few times, creating a shell mould width of around 10mm.
Step 5
Following final shell mould is dried, the wax is melted in a steam autoclave, called "lost-wax process". The moulds are fired at over 900 C temperature to take off any leftover wax and to improve the mould.
Step 6
Melted metal flows into the moulds while they are still hot, enabling the metal to filling the mould.
Step 7
When cooling, the ceramic shell mould is damaged away and per casting is cut outside the feeder system.
Step 8
The castings are carefully blasted and heat-treated. some operations may be required. x-ray, Material testing, if it is required
