Sand casting is the most widely used casting process in casting Industry, use sand molds to shape complex metal parts so it's can be produced with almost any alloy. Because the sand mould must need damaged for get part, named the casting, sand casting generally is low production speed. The sand casting process requires the use of sand mold, pattern,melted metal,furnace . The metal is melted by furnace and then poured into the hole of the sand mould, which is formed by the pattern. The sand mould splits along a parting line and the solidified casting can be taken off.

Sand casting is commonly used to create a wide selection of metal components with complex shape. These parts can differ widely in weight and size, ranging from  several tons to a ounces. Some smaller sand casting parts include components as crankshafts,pulleys, connecting rods,  gears, and propellers. Larger include heavy machine parts and  large equipment  housings.


The sand casting process has five main steps, which are below.

1. Mold-making - The sand casting process 1st step is to create the mould for the casting.
2. Clamping - when the mould has been created, it must be ready for poured the molten metal. the cores are positioned and the mould are closed.
3. Pouring - The metal is melted by furnace. Poured molten metal into the mould.
4. Cooling - The molten metal begin to cool whe it be poured into the mould and solidify when it enters the cavity.
5. Removal - the sand mould can easily be broken, and the casting taken off.
